I attended this morning's glaucoma Eye Clinic at RCH Treliskee in which I knew that my cataract condition would also be assessed. I was very fearful. My husband was with me and helped alert the first practitioner who saw me about my fears.
This was Debbie who was responsible for measuring my peripheral vision. She was marvelous - so very reassuring as well as skilled. I came out of that twenty minute session feeling valued and reassured - and the next practitioner who continued the measuring of my vision (whose name I didn't note -sorry) was also very kind and reassuring, encouraging my husband to sit in on my eye examination. He even later returned my jacket that I had forgotten to pick up from his clinic.
All this paved the way for my sessions with Dr Muhammad who was the very model of the empathic skilled professional. My husband and I are over the moon with how this morning has unfolded.
The medical prognosis on the glaucoma front is very encouraging and my fear of the cataract surgery has been lifted. Thank you! I have met three admirable professionals and experienced the NHS at its best. I think Bevan would be very pleased too!
