I've been attending a weekly breastfeeding group at Chryston Parish Church. The help and advice I've received in recent months has been invaluable from the two leaders, Lesley and Aileen.
At first my baby lost 11% of her body weight from birth and was on a fairly strict top up program. I personally struggled with how to provide enough milk for baby and also run about doing the school and nursery drop offs and pickups without baby going too far over feeding time.
Attending this group made me feel part of a community and the support given was truly appreciated to help my baby gain weight more consistently. All help was given with care and compassion and always sensitively (especially considering the post partum state of many women attending in those early weeks).
Lesley is very welcoming to all who attend the group and always goes above and beyond to chat separately with a new mum to help them feel comfortable and more settled in a group. Lesley is full of advice and help with many suggestions to help you tackle the next issue that baby throws at you.
This is a group I benefit from greatly, not to mention it's a place I've come to meet many new mums also experiencing some of the struggles of breastfeeding together. I've found the past 6 months to be invaluable and this group is the reason so many continue to exclusively breastfeed for so long.
Without the dedicated support from Lesley and Aileen many new mums would struggle much more than is needed.....this service is an absolute must for any breastfeeding mum in the local community.
