I went in to Perth Royal Infirmary for an appointment to have my cast off and a moon boot on, and to learn what's happened and how to care for my ankle moving forward.
I met Morag, who x-rayed me. All straightforward, calm, she was kind and clear and the x-rays did the job. Thanks.
Cat welcomed me to the Outpatient Orthopaedic Department and took me to Simon. Simon had the x-rays and spoke me through what had happened. He was patient (though clearly busy), clear, his language was really strong and positive, making me feel confident. He and his team had had a lot of work to do fixing my ankle and fix it they have. I left feeling very optimistic. Thank you.
Karen took my cast off, carefully cleaned and moisturised my leg and got me into a moon boot. She was kind and careful and she had the job that was most uncomfortable for me and did it gently. Thanks.
Cat and a colleague then helped me see my x-rays cheerfully and helpfully. Thanks.
I have left with an ankle that is healing well, a booklet about ankle exercises, the invitation to get in touch with any questions and the offer to face-to-face physiotherapy should I want it further down the line. I am very grateful to everyone who had provided care along the way, but specifically today, to Morag, Cat, Karen and Simon (and the other woman whose name I didn't catch - smiley, dark hair, showed me x-rays).
