"The service truly works"

About: Arbroath Infirmary / Minor Injuries NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as a service user),

I accidentally cut my foot recently. A call to 111 led me to being sent to Arbroath Infirmary minor injuries unit. I was called by the lovely Kirsty, who gave me an appointment time.

On my arrival I was seen straight away and assessed. Given paper stitches and instructions on how to care for the wound over the next week.

Kirsty was absolutely fantastic, and gentle with what was sore wound.

In the end my appointment lasted 15mins and I was back home in half an hour.

Just goes to show that the 111 service truly works. Instead of rocking up at A&E and having to wait 4 hours, I was able to wait for 2 hours in the comfort of my own home.

Thanks again Kirsty!

Dear kilowt59,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your story on care opinion. All feedback is much appreciated and helps to improve our service.

I am sorry to hear you cut your foot and required a trip to the Minor Injuries Unit. I hope you are on the mend now and your wound is healing nicely. I am delighted to hear your patient journey was seamless from calling NHS 24 111 to your visit to the Minor Injuries Unit.

Thanks again for sharing and I will be sure to pass on your lovely comments to Kirsty and the rest of the MIU staff.

Take care,

Katy Cook (Senior Staff Nurse, Arbroath Minor Injuries Unit, NHS Tayside)
