(as a parent/guardian),

My son was admitted to the Castle Mey ward from A&E at Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital. We had a very positive experience throughout. He was seen at A&E quickly, and the staff there explained everything to me. Similarly in Castle Mey, the staff and students were approachable, so kind and caring, and took the time to explain his treatment plan.

My son thoroughly enjoyed himself at the Castle Mey ward, really fantastic facilities - loved the garden, play room and toys available in his room. The Hub was also excellent, and for me it was so nice to have a cup of tea made for me and a member of staff join in and play with him so beautifully, giving me half an hour to relax. Thanks to all for making our first hospital experience to positive!

I am sorry to hear that your son was admitted to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and was a patient in both our Emergency Department and Castle Mey ward. I hope he is recovering well.

I am pleased you both felt that your first hospital experience was positive. Since our move to the new site at Little France we have been fortunate to have access to amazing spaces such as the gardens and the hub. We feel that these are so valuable for our patients and their families so we are glad you agree. It is great to hear you were able to make use of these.

Feedback is really important for us, so thank you for taking your time to tell us about your experience. I have thanked the staff in both our Emergency Department and Castle Mey ward for their input into your experience.
