"Mostly excellent care"

About: West Suffolk Hospital

My Dad was only going in for angiogram… he never came home. Whilst most of the staff were very caring and supportive… the initial consultant we were faced with was awful. He had zero empathy and mumbled to the point that we had to ask him what he was saying on many occasions. He had no idea what was happening to my dad and we were left feeling confused, distressed and unsure of what was going on. It was made worse that when my dad went in to hospital he was speaking… when I visited 4 days later he could barely speak. We had no explanation from the consultant as to why that might be.. he looked like he’d rather be anywhere than doing his job. Sadly, my dad passed away 3 weeks later. He was treated with respect and care from the nurses… we are grateful for that. They were also absolutely lovely to my mum , brother and myself. We try and remember that they were so kind and forget the arrogance/ ignorance of the consultant that greeted us at the most difficult time of our lives.
