I was treated in the GRACE clinic (Craigavon Area Hospital) today for hyperemesis gravidarum.
My experience from start to finish was outstanding. After a long 13 hour wait in A&E with very little resolve, I was welcomed by Katie (who I think is the lead nurse) and Providence, one of the nurses. I was exhausted, emotional and starving and they immediately made me feel at ease, and started to treat me quickly. I should note that I was a last minute add on and I was really impressed at how organised everyone was.
I was there for 5 hours - it's quite a small area, but the staff communicate very sensitively with women and take care to maintain privacy as much as possible. They are personable and kind - everything you would want when feeling sick and vulnerable.
I left a different woman and feel so much relief knowing this service is available should I need it again. It is a day clinic but if it was available 24 hours, it would benefit so many more women - such an essential service which takes pressure off other areas!
This service is an absolute credit and the staff deserve all the praise! Thank you so much to Katie and Providence specifically.
