"Amazing care x"

About: Maternity care / Labour suite maternity Maternity care / Maternity care (Ward 50)

(as a service user),

Just had my first baby at QEUH and had such a great experience. Everyone was nice even though the wards were so busy and they were stressed it felt like they really cared. Waited ages to go down to labor ward unfortunately but when I did everyone made me feel so comfortable.

My first midwife was Rachel and she honestly done so well, we went through my birth plan and she asked us loads of questions about what we wanted to have happen and it felt like she really cared.

I was gutted she never got to be there for the birth because her shift ended but she came to visit us on the ward to say hello and meet our son the next day and said she was proud of me which was such a nice boost. It was another midwife called Lauren who helped deliver my baby and she was fab, kept me calm and made me feel really supported.

And then lovely Lindsay looked after us on ward 50 and spent so much time with us which I appreciate because she was so busy with other ladies. I couldn’t believe all 3 of these girls when they said they were so new to being midwives, they honestly done fab and they really made our experience so nice.

Like I say I wish it was less busy and the wait times to be induced were shorter but I know you’s are so busy and you definately make up for it with how lovely everyone is. Thank yous so much again x

Dear redbn54.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your amazing care here at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Maternity Unit in Glasgow during your pregnancy and the birth of your son.

I am sorry that you had to wait for so long to access labour ward due to the high level of activity at the time but I am glad that the team were able to support and reassure you after you arrived. It is lovely to read of how calm and supported Rachel made you feel which then continued with Lauren's great care.

I am glad that your experience in Ward 50 was so supportive and that Lindsay was able to spend so much time supporting you.

The first years as a midwife can be extremely challenging, especially in such a busy and fast paced environment and Rachel. Lauren and Lindsay will be delighted to receive such fantastic feedback in recognition of their kindness, compassion and great support.

Thank you again for your lovely feedback and gratitude and I will ensure that this is shared with all of our teams.

Best wishes to you and your family

Gaynor
