For several years I have had on going issues with my GP Practice, mostly from the reception staff being abruptly rude, missing key points when making an appointment or prescription, it has gotten to the point I have the seen the hospital more than I ever due to not receiving the advice or care that is needed.
A few years ago I suffered with a gallstone with me pushing for the tests to be done. My doctor at the time was telling me it was a stomach ulcer, after over a year of suffering with the pain, not being able to eat and lost so much weight the picture would disgust you I was skin and bone.
After myself pushing for a further testing of an endoscopy and 3 months from my chest x ray which found the gallstone it was the surgeon that made me aware I had a small gallstone and not a stomach ulcer.
I contacted my doctor the next day to be told he wasn’t sure what to do as it was too small, yet for over a year I was really ill.
Now I am in my 2nd trimester with twins, I was given a prescription from the twin clinic to hand in to my GP clinic so that my medication can then be on repeat when I run out. I was given this a couple of weeks ago, which I had taken down within that week to be told the GP cannot help and it has to be the pharmacy or hospital.
I had went to the pharmacy and they said it was to go to my GP. I also visited the hospital pharmacy who also said as they have already supplied me with my first set it now needs to go to the GP.
I also doubled checked with my midwife at the twin clinic while I was up there. I went to my GP to hand it in and to let them know I have seen both hospital and midwife who have told me it’s protocol that we do this. The receptionist at my GP was not helpful at all again and was dismissing me telling me it’s the hospital pharmacy.
I had then went outside and spoken to my midwife who had phoned the GP and spoken to the receptionist who also knew who I was yet when I went in the receptionist was telling me everyone else is wrong and she has spoken to nobody today.
I have been passed pillar to post by my Medical Practice and it has caused me a lot of stress for medication to help me through this pregnancy. Last week I also asked if I could ask for a prescription for antihistamines as again I asked pharmacies but due to being pregnant it need to be from the doctor. The same receptionist just looked through me and asked why would I need them on prescription and when I had replied I’m pregnant they had then said it’s to do with your midwife take it up with her, who I had also spoken with and they cannot prescribe medication.
In my experience of this Practice it has been unbothered, lacked a duty of care, and staff have been rude.
I am looking to move surgery as I am hoping to move house due to the space with having 2 kids and twins now on the way so I’m holding off so I don’t need to move again if need be.
