About: Turning Point

(as a service user),

been under turning Point for years, gradually reducing my prescription strength.

recently  had a serious accident and ended up being prescribed oral morphine from the hospital/GP for 6 weeks which was stopped without notice for over a week until my GP prescribed me slow release morphine instead.

I made a rather big mistake of being truthful with the perscriber from Turning Point and telling them that when the morphine was stopped without notice I really struggled and had to take addition methadone on top.

I also suffer from osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and lueakeamia on top of the serious accident that involved degloving my foot plus large lacerations which caused a lot of nerve damage.

I agreed with them that if they did decide to increase my methadone that i would take no issue if I had to cancel my slow release morphine from my GP.

A few days before my holiday I find out that not only have they not increased my methadone but they have written to my GP making out that I am buying street drugs to get high and advising him to stop my prescriptions.

I spoke to this perscriber for only a matter of minutes yet they now think they know me better than other health professionals that i have worked withfor years. I thought being truthful was the best option but now I realise that was a grave mistake. I'm absolutely gutted my support worker had put in a lot of time with me and I had come to trust them and was about to start some group session and community rehab but I want no further dealings with Turning Point and will be requesting them to stop issuing prescriptions as I can not trust them not to interfere with other aspects of my life.

If this is how they treat their patients then I can only think that they are trying to push them onto street drugs to give them a reason to be needed.
