All the nurses and ambulance crew have been fantastic and explained everything. I give them 10 out of 10 for every department. I first got brought in by ambulance with double vision and a suspected stroke. I came to the emergency department, who sent me through to the eye department and went through to have some examinations they said my eyes were fine and sent me back through in case it was a stroke.
I had a CT scan and then was sent home after that I went numb down my left side and got brought back in by ambulance to the hospital and stayed for three days and had another CT scan and MRI scan an apparently was the muscle and nerve in my eye. I've been back and forth to the eye department and all the staff have been so good. I've seen the neurologist is very happy with me now after my weeks of care I'm allowed to drive again, he's even let me see the images and the damage but they still don't know what caused its unfortunately. I feel great I feel normal and strong again and I'm going to be starting driving very soon.
The neurologist has been overseeing my care with all the other specialists and department's and we had a really good laugh all the care has been great. While being under the hospital and the different department's all the care has been very cohesive within the hospital and everybody knows about my care I don't have to repeat myself, the only thing that I've not been 100% with is the care I've had from my GP practice.
They received a letter from my aftercare when I was discharged from hospital and I just got a phone call saying what is it you need and I thought well you're the doctors you tell me.
I got to hold I've got high cholesterol and I don't do very good on statins so they put me on another medication which I took for three days and I was in agony so I stopped taking the medication on the 4th day. They said that's OK we'll see you in a month's time and I thought what's the use of that when am I going to have my other tests to see if my cholesterol is gone down I try to do everything myself and have a good diet but I'm not having tests done for now another month.
I also have COPD and I can't blame the nurses at the GP practise they've been excellent they get a message through from the doctors to say I need bloods but the doctors haven't instructed them what bloods they need to take, I think the communication at the doctor's practise could be better.
But I wanted to really say thank you and praise all the staff at North Devon District Hospital and the ambulance service they've been absolutely amazing thank you so much.
