"Very reassuring and listened to all my concerns"

About: Gynaecology / Gynaecology Outpatients

(as the patient),

Found department no problem, nurse took my blood pressure, weight and height and asked for a urine sample. Then had a short wait until I saw Dr Christie who was assisted by Yvonne.

Dr Christie let me speak, and was very reassuring and listened to all my concerns, which she answered for me. I was then asked to take off my lower items of clothing and was given a towel... which was a little small.

Dr Christie examined me on the bed, then gave me her feedback, which was fortunately good news. I have a urine volume chart to complete and a MRI scan to do. Yvonne then very kindly showed us the way out (I was allowed to have my husband in with me).

This experience was so so much better than the last, where I did not feel comfortable at all. Thank you so much to all the nurses and especially Dr Christie. Much of my anxiety was banished.

Dear Dee bee

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of visiting Gynae Outpatients in Perth Royal Infirmary.

We understand how daunting a visit to this department is, so we really do strive to make the appointment as pleasant an experience as it can possibly be.

I am sorry about the small towel provided for your examination, one size doesn't always fit all! We will endeavour to have larger coverings available, indeed we have talked about patients being able to bring a cover that may be more of a comfort to them whilst undergoing such an intimate examination.

I will pass on your very kind review to Yvonne, Dr Christie and the wider team in Gynae.

It is lovely to hear that you had good news from Dr Christie, and I wish you well for the future.

Best wishes.

Dear Dee bee

Following your visit to Gynaecology at PRI, and your mention of the small towel as a covering for undergoing your examination.

We are now going to be offering a larger sheet for patients comfort and modesty during an examination.

Thank you again for your insight into this issue.

Best wishes

Update posted by Dee bee (the patient)

That is wonderful news, not all us ladies have small waists that a band towel would go round.

Thanks for listening.
