"Every day it gets harder for her"

About: Children's Specialist Health Services / Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Children's Specialist Health Services / Neurodevelopmental Service (NDS) General practices in Lanarkshire

(as a parent/guardian),

3 years waiting time for a neurodevelopment appointment with NHS Lanarkshire ( sure this time would have increased)  My child has been on the waiting list so for near 2 years.  Every day it gets harder for her, she now deals with Insomnia, panic attacks, constant worrying, self harm, among the rest.

Call for advice, which falls onto deaf ears… ask if there’s a cancellation list, straight no. I feel my child is getting neglected to the highest degree.

Contact the GP, there's nothing they can do, she’s been referred on to appropriate people. CAHMS waiting list also over a year - I have been on this list for over a year with no contact. How is this right?

Making these kids wait so long in such a crucial part in their life and brain development. Where is all the advocation for kids mental health awareness and the importance of that?

Trying to support and manage my child is now impacting on both mine and my husband's mental health with her sister getting the brunt of most of her outbursts. This now affects her older sister mentally.

Dear novermbercd89,

Thank you for sharing your experience of your GP practice.

I am sorry to hear of the problems you are facing in getting your daughter help, and that the GP was unable to do anything further to help you both. The advice above from Suzanne would be the best way to get further information and assistance.

GPs are independent contractors and as such are not registered to on Care Opinion, however they are responsible to respond to any feedback about their service. If you wished to discuss the GP aspect further then can I ask that you contact the Practice Manager?

I hope you get some help soon.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
