Initially, we were very worried and scared, but the care provided was quick and good. However, communication started to break down, and suddenly we were informed about the need for an early c-section, which came as a surprise since no one had informed the doctor and anaesthesiologist about the minimal amount of water leakage. This lack of communication left us feeling uninformed and distressed and the plan then changed.
Subsequently, we were informed about a scheduled scan for the next day, but throughout the second day, we were only checked on twice (baby monitors no at 0900 and then again at 1600) with no basic observations being conducted. We had to remind the midwife about necessary antibiotics and even request lunch, only to discover there was a cafeteria we hadn’t been informed about earlier. This lack of basic communication made the experience unpleasant, and it seemed like nobody knew what was going on or who was responsible for our care.
However, things improved significantly on the second night when the night staff, particularly Midwife Louisa, took over. She was incredibly caring, informative, and knowledgeable. Unlike the previous day, she diligently carried out observations, addressing concerns about infection risks. She patiently answered all our questions, provided reassurance, and demonstrated thoroughness in her assessments and monitoring. We are immensely grateful for her exceptional care and dedication.
