"Inadequate pain relief"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I had my procedure at Oldham , the doctor and nurses on the day were really caring and showed lots of empathy, I notified them I was a survivor of sexual abuse, the doctor talked me through the procedure and did keep checking in with me.

However, the procedure is so horrific and painful, I felt violated and instantly had PTSD. I experienced dissociation and was able to endure the procedure. How I'll never know, it's is so painful and barbaric, no amount of empathy will ever help with that procedure.

Afterwards I was shown to a room and made a brew and left alone, I sobbed because of the pain and how I felt emotionally. I just had to leave.

I'm still struggling with gyne issues and missed 8 appointments for smears since, it's completely made it impossible for me to attend. This procedure needs revising, no-one should have to endure this without adequate pain relief.
