"A great credit to their profession"

About: Causeway Hospital / Accident & Emergency Causeway Hospital / Coronary Care/Medical Monitoring Unit Causeway Hospital / Medical 1 Causeway Hospital / Medical Assessment Unit Causeway Hospital / Specialist Palliative Care Team Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a relative),

After having a heart attack recently, our mother was taken by ambulance to Causeway hospital. The ambulance and paramedic staff were excellent and performed their duties perfectly. On arrival at the hospital, the ED staff continued with the high standard of care.

Our mother was taken to Altnagelvin hospital until a course of treatment could be determined and transferred back to Causeway the next day.

This was the beginning of an almost 8 weeks in hospital.

During her time in Causeway, she was in different wards: Medical 1 and 2, Medical Assessment and Coronary care. In all these wards, our mother was treated to a very high standard of care. The nurses had a heavy workload, but they always attended with a smile, a comforting word and great compassion.

After exhausting medical care, the decision was made to move to palliative care. At this stage, not only did our mother receive exemplary care, but my sister and I did also. All the nursing staff and the doctors could not have been more helpful and are a great credit to their profession.

Hello Mary627

My name is Victoria McCrory and I am the Assistant Clinical Services Manager for Causeway ED. I am very sorry to hear that your mother has been unwell and now moved to palliative care. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review, particularly at such a difficult time.

I am glad to hear that ED staff provided your mother with a high standard of care. Whilst pressures within the ED environment have remained high, the staff continue to aim to provide a high standard of care to all patients and their families. They will be delighted to receive this positive feedback and I will ensure it is shared with all staff.

Positive feedback helps boost staff morale, and also serves as a reminder to staff of the fabulous care they continue to provide, despite the challenges they face daily. I am sure I can speak on the behalf of all departments you have mentioned when I say how much his feedback is appreciated.

Thank you once again for taking the time to provide this feedback.

Yours Sincerely

Victoria McCrory
