My elderly mother was transferred to Ward 5 at Queen Margaret, Dunfermline recently from the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and we found the difference in care remarkable.
At the Vic she was passed from pillar to post with seemingly no real efforts being made to work on her mobility. But being at QMH for 5 days or so we found the staff to be friendly, attentive, always on hand to answer questions and take on board any concerns.
They were very visible and would often base themselves in the rooms so there was never a need to go 'hunting' for a nurse and they showed a real care and concern for both the patient and their families.
A throwback to the NHS of old! Special mention and thanks to Fiona and Stacey.
