"Consistent support, genuine compassion, and commitment"

I've had the pleasure of being supported by the Blantyre Health Visiting Team over the past 18 months.

My health visitor, Yvonne, along with the rest of the team, has been an incredible source of support for me and my children. Yvonne's compassion, kindness, and willingness to listen have made a significant difference in our lives. She has consistently gone above and beyond to provide support and advice during difficult situations, and her availability and responsiveness have been invaluable. Nothing is too much trouble. Yvonne's punctuality and genuine interest in our well-being have made our appointments feel like meaningful conversations rather than routine check-ins. The appointments never feel rushed, or like going through a checklist. Her approach has fostered a sense of comfort and openness, which I deeply appreciate. I can confidently say that I've never encountered such dedicated and caring support from a health visitor before.

In addition to my interactions with Yvonne, I also regularly attend the breastfeeding support group, led by Dawn and Jillian, and previously Julie, and Aileen. Their welcoming and non-judgmental approach has created a supportive environment where I feel comfortable sharing my experiences, however personal. They have shown excellent attention to detail, even with toddlers and babies being a constant distraction! They always have resources available for the little ones, and for their older siblings too!

Furthermore, my experiences at the immunisation clinics with the nurses and HCSW at Blantyre Health Centre have been extremely positive. The staff's accommodation of my needs and their compassionate approach towards both me and my child have made the immunisation process much easier to navigate. They are always aware that the babies may still feel anxious about being in a new place and not knowing what’s going on. They have made my little girl feel at ease throughout her appointments and always comforted her afterwards.

I would also like to mention the hard work put in my Dawn, who is back and forth between the waiting area and clinical rooms more times that I could count, but always has a smile on her face! She is so reassuring and really makes us feel at ease.

My final mention is for the Health Visitors on the team that I haven't met, but have always been helpful and kind on the phone. I've never felt like I'm causing a problem by calling, and they are always happy to assist!

Overall, the Blantyre team's consistent support, genuine compassion, and commitment to providing excellent care have made a significant impact on my life. I am immensely grateful for their unwavering dedication and believe that they truly deserve recognition for their outstanding service.
