My husband had a fall and hurt his hand. He has a complex autoimmune syndrome with many health challenges and is a wheelchair user. l rang the minor injuries unit and he was given an appointment for that afternoon.
We were seen promptly and John the nurse wheeled him in. We were greeted by sister in charge Natalie. She was lovely, asking relevant questions and listening attentively. My husband was asked if he needed pain relief and examined. John brought us to X ray and again he was seen promptly. We returned to the unit where Natalie was able to tell us there were no broken bones. She took time to explain how he could treat his swollen hand and gave him a splint to take home. Nothing was too much trouble. We were on our way home after an hour and a half in total.
This unit is an excellent facility and the staff are to be commended for the professional service they give. A big bonus here is that the unit offers a safe space to be treated for patients who are immunocompromised. Many thanks to all the staff particularly Natalie and John.
