"Horrendous breast cancer experience "

About: Royal Bournemouth Hospital

24 Hours without any food

18 Hours without a drink of water

12 Hours waiting for surgery.

Not a single explanation about what was happening. Totally ignored by doctor, nurses...

Appalling behaviour. I am a Foreign OAP and I was shaking, distressed, crying, fainted, dizzy, aching all over... not sympathy at all from the doctors and nurses.

Dear Anonymous,

I am terribly sorry to hear that these have been your experiences.

I would urge you to please get in touch with us either by email at patientexperienceteam@uhd.nhs.uk or by telephone on 0300 019 8499 so that we might address your concerns and apologise personally for the experiences you have described. I will report this to the Group Directors of Nursing. If you could let us know some more details we can investigate this and prevent any such experiences being repeated. I really am so sorry. It is already a fearful and incredibly anxiety provoking experience attending for breast surgery and I am sorry that the staff were not more caring and considerate to your needs and feelings.

Please accept my most sincere apologies for all the delays and lack of communication. Also for the manner of the doctors and nurses who were not as sympathetic as one would expect. I do hope that your health needs have been addressed and that you have received more empathetic care and treatment now.

Please get in touch so we can help

With Kind Regards and Best Wishes

The Patient Experience Team
