"Friendliness, care and professionalism"

About: Maternity care / Community Midwifery Unit Maternity care / Labour Suite Maternity care / Maternity Assessment Unit Perth Royal Infirmary / Community Midwifery Unit

(as the patient),

This was the birth of our first child (girl) with Dundee Maternity Unit. We both had a very positive experience and want to praise the friendliness, the care and professionalism of all those who delivered our baby and took care of us afterwards. In particular we would like to thank Rebecca and Emma who took at us from initial assessment immediately to established labour and handing over to Rebecca and Louise who delivered our baby girl shortly after!

The third stage of labour required more intervention which both Rebecca and Louise managed expertly and kept us calm throughout. We moved to the labour ward afterwards where Rebecca and Louise continued their excellent care and they were supported well by the rest of the staff in the labour ward.

We cannot express in words how positive this experience has been. We would also like to thank Sandra, our community midwife who has offered superb care and support throughout.

Dear JenniferX

I wish to congratulate you and your family on the birth of your baby girl, I hope you are all settling in at home, and enjoying this magical time as a new family

I am delighted to hear your experience within the DMU during your labour and birth was supported, with you at the heart of all care provision, where you felt involved and in collaboration with our midwives.

It is also reassuring, that although your birth preferences changed during the 3rd stage of your labour, you contnued to feel safe and included with all recommendations or decisions to transfer your care to our Labour Suite, providing a seamless transition into Obstetric led care during this period of time, which remained comfortable to you, knowing safety remained our priority for both you and your baby girl.

We are very thankful to you for taking the time to share your experience, it is extremely valuable to us as a service to receive assurance our improvement progress to develop our service feels right for you and your family, and this is so rewarding to hear how this has influenced your birth, which you will always remember fondly

I will be honoured to share this feedback to Sandra, Rebecca, Emma & Louise and our Labour Suite midwifery and obstetric teams

I wish you and your family all the very best

Warm wishes

Steph Gardiner

Senior Midwife
