"Disabled access"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Outpatients

(as a service user),

Attending Inverclyde Royal Hospital for an outpatients appointment. My wife uses a mobility scooter and has a blue badge. When we arrived all the disabled bays were full. So I dropped my wife off and went away to park in the overflow carpark. This made sure there was space beside the car to get out of the scooter and into the car. After the appointment we took the path through the middle of the main carpark which looked as though it led to the pelican crossing which leads to the overflow carpark. However at the end of this path there was a grass verge which meant my wife had to drive around the carpark and use the vehicle entrance to get to the pavement. Safety and convenience would be massively improved by a short length of footpath.

Dear Disinfectantdh87

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry to hear about the parking issues you and your wife experienced when attending Inverclyde Royal Hospital. Please pass on my apologies to your wife for having to drive around the car park and use the vehicle entrance. My colleagues from the Estate’s Team had advised that they will be providing a route for wheelchairs and mobility scooters to the overflow carpark and fitting additional dropped kerbs due to the increasing numbers of patients and visitors requiring blue badge.

Thank you

Nicole
