Sent by Doctor to ED for cat scan
Arrived at ED and registered at reception. Within two hours I was seen by Triage nurse. Then called to see doctor three hours later and had bloods taken and an X ray. Had to wait for results from Doctor but nothing conclusive was found but infection levels high.
Twelves hours after I arrived, I was sent for cat scan to find source of problem and the was admitted to a ward three hours later.
The process was extremely long and arduous and I feel much of the wait could have been avoided if the system was a little more flexible.
The waiting area was warm and stuffy and the seats in the corridors were extremely uncomfortable for so long a sit.
Can I say that every member of staff were polite and courteous but they were extremely busy and I did not like to pester them to see how much longer I would have to wait.
There were other extremely ill patients going through the same wait as myself so I felt for them as well.
When I got to the wards tired and exhausted I was grateful to lie down.
My experience of 3 south surgical was much better and could not have been treated better.
I want to thank the staff for the professionalism shown to me and commend them for the work they do in such a difficult environment.
Something needs to be done to speed the process in ED as this the point of entry into the hospital.
