My husband was admitted to Causeway Surgical 2 end of April '24.GP had been treating him for shingles but turned out to be severely infected gallbladder. From A&E to Surgical 2 to Ambulatory Unit I cannot commend the staff enough. Drs, nursing staff who promptly assessed my husband, and very quickly commenced the proper treatment for his condition. My husband was quite ill for a number of days and recieved 9 days of IV antibiotics plus insertion of cholecystostomy tube drain. The staff were on the ball getting this proceedure done as we were running into a Bank hol weekend and it could have been detrimental to my husband if they had waited, but they got the people arranged quickly and got drain inserted which gave my husband instant relief.. From the Domestic staff, nursing staff all grades and Drs I cannot praise them  enough for their kindness, caring, competency, professionalism and approachability.

Following discharge about 1 week later with drain in situ for another 4 weeks,  my husband wasnt feeling so well with shoulder pains and chest tenderness, I had to collect a perscription from the hospital and called into the unit to speak with the Sister re my husband. Sr. Spence acted promptly and Sister Dyson said they would see him straight away ..He was sitting in carpark so I brought him to the new Surgical Ambulatory Unit where once again he was seen immediatly by Dr. and nurse. They were again kind and caring, took some bloods and we waited for the results..My husband was given lunch  and offered tea/coffee while we waited. The Dr was very kind and answered all our questions. Thankfully my husbands blood results were a lot better and we were reassured and allowed to go home.. The most reassuring thing was being told we could ring any time and if we were worried about anything to come straight to the Ambulatory unit and someone would see us. This is what I call real compassion and caring by professional, competent, confident, knowledgable and skillful practitioners.. This is how all hospitals should be run..Well done Causeway Surgical Unit 2 and Causeway Surgical Ambulatory Unit.

If it wernt for your prompt attention and treatment my husband would not be as well as he is today..Keep up the good work..😃👏👏👏🌟

Good Morning Whyte15

My name is Deborah Dyson I am the ward SR in Surgical 2.

Thankyou for taking the time to share your experience whilst on my ward.

When admitted to hospital it can be a very daunting time for the patient and their family. I was delighted to read that your experience was so positive from attending ED to admission to S2 and treatment in CSAU.

The staff pride themselves on delivering a high standard of care with compassion, professionalism, confidence and knowledge.

I am v pleased that when Sr Spence informed me that your husband was waiting in the car that I was able to speak with CSAU and facilitate him being seen. We pride ourselves on working as a team ensuring that all our patients are our highest priority.

I will share your kind words with my whole team whom I Know will be delighted.

I wish your husband well in his recovery

Debbie
