"Sons Incontinence Issues"

About: Children & younger people's services / Continence Team (CYP)

(as a parent/guardian),

My son has had incontinence issues for a while now, he’s always struggled with his disabilities and also has a fear of toilets, he will happily have a wee standing infront of the toilet but anything else, trying to get him to sit down on it is a major issue. Since having support with nappies for him he will take himself away (In our house) and do his business, they’ve helped so much! Especially his Incontinence Nurse - Sam who is going on Maternity Leave soon!

This will be ongoing for a while, hopefully when he realises the toilet isn’t that scary he will be okay! But in the mean time, baby steps, no matter how small the baby steps are, they’re in the right direction!

It makes me feel happy as his mum that he is understood and can feel secure & do his business where he is comfortable without rushing him onto the toilet
