"It made our stay so much easier"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Castle Mey Ward Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Play Services

(as a parent/guardian),

We stayed on Castle Mey ward RHCYP, the play staff and facilities were amazing! Our 14 month old was entertained all day by the range of toys in our bay on the ward, the fantastic playroom and all of its resources within the ward and the outdoor garden with lots of space to explore and play! It made our stay so much easier. Signposting from play staff on the ward to The Hub was also fab where we enjoyed a Sensory session in a calm and relaxing atmosphere whilst the grown-ups made a cup of coffee!

Dear MammyA

I am sorry to hear your 14 month old was unwell and required an admission to Castle Mey ward. I hope they are feeling better.

As the Clinical Nurse Manager for both the play team and Castle Mey ward I am delighted to hear that we were able to keep your child entertained as being in hospital is not always an enjoyable experience. The hub is a really valuable space for our patients and their families so I am pleased you were able to use it.

I have passed on your feedback to both the play and Castle Mey teams as they love to hear about our patients experience. Thank you for taking your time to tell us about your stay.
