"The staff are very lovely and informative"

About: Sexual Health Services - North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (Open Clinic)

(as a service user),

Waited about 15-20 minutes to get called in for my appointment. When I came in the lady was nice and explained the procedure to me, let me know what to expect etc.

We first did an ultrasound as I have tried to get it removed some time ago but it wouldn’t come out, then I was told to take a pregnancy test which came back negative. Afterwards we moved on to taking the IUD out.

The procedure didn’t take too long, explained the procedure in steps so I didn’t get surprised by any pain. It was painful but nothing too major, did react to the pain at one point but the staff was lovely and apologised. Didn’t feel lightheaded afterwards or anything.

The lady who stood next to me asked questions and it was distracting which helped with the pain side of it, and it was fun to show my tattoos to her.

After it was done I was told to lie down for a couple minutes just in case I felt lightheaded.

Overall I think the staff are very lovely and informative. I was in there for about 20-30 minutes and felt completely fine afterwards.

Dear lyranx56,

Thank you for leaving a detailed feedback of your experience when attending for your IUD removal. It is so good to read the care you received was excellent and it clearly highlights the time and dedication the staff members gave to you in giving clear, concise information about the procedure you were undergoing and reassuring you when it felt uncomfortable. Our team strives to deliver excellent care and to hear feedback like this when we forward it to the team really boosts morale so thank you again.

Kind regards

Leanne Fowler
