"Location of unit"

About: Rheumatology / Infusion Unit (ward 9)

(as the patient),

Today I attended altnagelvin hospital in Derry for a rituximab infusion.

I have poor mobility and use a stick for walking support. My unit is on the 9th floor of the tower block, which means I have a long walk from the entrance to the unit. By the time I got to my appointment I was late as I had to stop twice to catch my breath.

I can’t understand why this unit (infusion) isn’t located nearer to the main entrance as the majority of patients have mobility issues

Thankyou Natlupus, for taking your time to express your concerns regarding the location of the unit. This is a ongoing issue because as you say the location of the unit since the extension of the hospital Is quite a walk from the front entrance, at present there are no plans to relocate, but Portering services are available from the Front hall to the Unit and vice versa to help alleviate these issues.

Thank you again
