"They listened, asked questions, seemed genuinely interested"

About: Children and Young People Services / Child and Adolescent Mental Services

(as a parent/guardian),

Keirin and Michael were both lovely. They made myself and my son feel very relaxed as this was our first time.

They listened, asked questions, seemed genuinely interested, and made some progress with my son. They talked a lot of sense to my son who's a teenager who had made a few bad choices.

They spoke to him in a manner that he listened and I cant thank them both enough.

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to post your story on Care Opinion - I will let both Ciaran and Michael know that when your son attended for assessment he was made to feel relaxed. It is important when attending a service that you feel listened to and it helps the young person feel they are not being judged. As a service we emphasise the importance of engaging the young person in the initial meeting. A lot of young people unfortunately do make wrong choices but hopefully your son will get the right therapeutic support in his recovery.

Regards

Shirley Dennison
