"His needs are not being met"

About: Adult Mental Health Community / City North Local Mental Health Team (LMHT)

(as a parent/guardian),

I am not happy with the care/support my son is receiving from Marlow House. I was assured we would get a home visit due to difficulties as he has with leaving the house due to anxiety. I managed to get him there once, the first visit and that was so traumatic, his anxiety overwhelmed. I am not willing to do it again. We tried a telephone consultation but that honestly was a waste of time.

So, my self and my friend went to the next one and even the consultant said they would take it to the MDT to arrange a home visit. But no, you can guess, next apt at Marlow House!

Things on our recent consultation review are not true and this is now making my mental health worse. My son is not refusing meds, we agreed between us to stop because he was asleep all the time. I don't want to hear home visit are precious, I don't want to hear he's just a locum, I don't want to hear we are short staffed.

My son was sectioned at the age of 16. This broke me but I thought he would get the support. He was put in some sort of supported living. He was allowed to eat cold soup, his choice they said. He has an EHCP. Honestly, not worth the paper it was written on.

He is in his early 20s now and social services and the NHS could never decide who would take responsibility for his care. He is diagnosed with autism and ADHD and always get put in mental health services. I worry for his future and asked for small steps to help him.

Honestly, in my experience mental health support makes your mental health worse! His needs are not being met.

Dear Sarah49,

Thankyou for taking time to post your experiences and I am very sorry to hear of these. I would like to look into this and understand what has happened but unfortunately there is insufficient detail here for me to be able to do so. If you feel able to contact our PALS and Complaints Department on Tel: 0115 993 4542 or at palsandcomplaints@nottshc.nhs.uk I would be able to arrange for this to be looked into and a full response provided. I hope this will offer some help. I would like to wish you and your son all the best in future,

Joanne
