"NHS angels"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Coronary Care Unit

(as a relative),

This is a post I genuinely thought I wouldn't be able to write. My husband had chest and arm pain late at night, little did I know my world was about change .

He rang 111 ,who in turn rang for an ambulance, he was in fact having a heart attack. 3 angels turned up (sadly I didn't catch their names), he was chatting away getting ready to go to hospital when he suddenly had a cardiac arrest. Thankfully they managed to bring him back.

We made our way to Hairmyres for my husband to go into the cath lab, and me into the waiting room for what felt like forever. Steven, the nurse from CCU, came in and explained everything and brought a well needed cup of tea. Everything was a blur by this point, but the paramedics came back to see me and reassure me. I even got a wave from my husband leaving the cath lab to CCU.

I was then taken in the ward to see him in the early hours, stayed for half an hour and let the next set of angels attend to him.

Again I missed some of their names but a special shout out to the lady in the grey uniform with glasses who walked me out and reassured me he was in the best hands, and believe me the care he received from start to finish in the CCU was outstanding.

You should be very proud Hairmyres.

It has restored my faith in the NHS .

He is now home and resting.

Dear Scooby65

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback reharding your husbands care. What a distressing time you and your husband have had in relation to sudden chest pain and a cardiac arrest. This must have been very frightening for you. I am so pleased to read that your husband is now at home resting.

Writing such lovely comments to the staff that cared for your husband, will be appreciated by the various team members. They will also be delighted to read that your husband is home. I will share your feedback with the cath lab and CCU staff and of course Steven.

It is good to see the whole team approach to care, with paramedics also checking in on you whilst you wait for your husband in the lab.

Thank you again for your kind words.

I hope that your husband is recovering well.

Best wishes

Lise

Dear Scooby65,

Thank you for getting in touch to pass on such warm words regarding all the staff who cared for your husband recently. I know how difficult it must have been to write it given how traumatic it will have been for you to re-live the memories of that day.

It is really appreciated that you took the time to do that.

Our staff who helped your husband when he went into cardiac arrest will be delighted to read your kind comments and to know that your husband is doing ok and is recovering well.

It sounds like the whole NHS experience was such a positive one for you in the most stressful of circumstances which is great to see.

If you would like us to track down the three members of ambulance staff who attended to pass on your note of thanks directly to them, would you be able to drop a quick note to sas.feedback@nhs.scot with the name, address, date and time attended and we'll be able to find the details in our system.

Thanks once again for getting in touch with us and I hope your husband is recovering well now that he is back home.

All the very best,

Mark
