I joined the BHSCT Carer Support Service Register in about 2019. I have a son with severe learning disability.
During the pandemic I started Yoga with Colette and stayed with the programme. Yoga on Mons helped me keep connected. It really increased my mobility and aches. From a wellbeing perspective it released stress and grounded me. I felt safe in a trusted uninterrupted space that was relaxing , gentle and reassuring. We all felt supported. The reassuring calm gentle voice helped me to get my head clear, giving me clarity and perspective when it was a struggle and when I was tired.
Please keep these classes going as it can be isolating. I and new carers need them. The staff in the Carer Support Service give so much compassion. We know they are there as our caring role does not go away.
It is important that professionals know about this service so they can pass this opportunity to carers as we give so much.
