"My visit to A &E and fracture clinic"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Accident and emergency North Devon District Hospital / Fracture Clinic North Devon District Hospital / Paediatrics North Devon District Hospital / Radiology (X-ray)

(as the patient),

I fell over roller skating and hurt my ankle. My Daddy brought me into A&E when I told him I was in a lot of pain.

All of the Nurses and the Doctors and the ladies from the Xray room were so lovely to me. A lady came and gave me a bear which made me feel really happy so I told my Daddy to give the charity some money so other children could have a bear too!

I hadn’t even taken a drink of my juice before I was taken by a man to look at my ankle and after he knew it was hurting I had to go and get an Xray. I was only waiting 20 minutes and had all of those people see me and a doctor who said I had to wear a boot for a week.

I came to fracture clinic with my Daddy a week later and the receptionist, Stacey, the Nurse Jackie and the doctor were so kind. I didn’t wait long and I was taken to get my second X-rays for Mr Davis, scared when I came in but they made me smile and I love hospitals now, but I am hoping I don’t have to come back in a long time.

Thank you NHS for looking after me, you are the best lovely people in the world!!!

Dear beidyq79

Thank you very much for taking the time to let us know about your recent visit to the hospital. I am sorry to hear that you hurt yourself whilst roller-skating and I hope that you are making a full recovery.

I am pleased to hear that our staff in X-ray looked after you and didn't keep you waiting long and were able to make you smile despite you being in pain. Thank you for your very kind words. I will let the staff in X-ray know how positive they made your experience in hospital feel.

I'm glad it has made you view hospitals differently and hope that it hasn't put you off going roller-skating in the future.

Dear beidyp79,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely comments of your experiences whilst in our hospital.

It sounds as though you have been very brave after your fall whilst roller-skating and are now hopefully on the mend. I'm sure your "hospital bear" has been keeping you company whilst you recover. What a very kind, thoughtful, caring and generous young person you are to think of other children whilst you were being treated and in pain. I'm positive the money your daddy donated will go towards purchasing more bears for other patients to enjoy.

I shall let Stacey, our receptionist know how kind you thought she was as was Mr Davies and the nurse.

Wishing you a super speedy recovery and hoping you get back to roller-skating very soon.

Best wishes

The Fracture Clinic Team
