"One of the worst surgeries I've dealt with; avoid…"

About: 79 Russell Street - Dr Swami

I've had very few positive experiences with GPs over the years, but Russell Street Surgery is particularly bad.

The doctors themselves are pleasant enough, but you'll wade through disinterested receptionists and endure the multiple week waits for an appointment, then it goes one of two ways: if it's straightforward like a cream or some painkillers, they'll prescribe something and send you on your way (or send you for some blood tests so it seems like they're doing something). If it's in any way more complex than that and may need a referral, no chance.

A case in point would be the appointment I made to discuss obstructive sleep apnoea after multiple people had urged me to go to the GP (including, I'd note, another doctor) and get a referral for a sleep study. Instead, I was asked some basic questions, it was suggested that I use an over the counter nasal spray – despite making it clear that my nose isn't blocked – and asked to record myself sleeping and bring them footage of what I'm talking about, a task which would require reviewing and editing eight hours of video footage to find the right sections: i.e. to do my own sleep study and bring it to them.

If that's not being fobbed off I'm not sure what is.
