(as the patient),

I was recently taken into Glasgow Queen Elizabeth University Hospital maternity assessment unit via ambulance, after my partner called 111 on my behalf.

The call to 111 was answered quickly and relevant questions asked. Then upon the Clinician's advice they escalated the call to the Ambulance service, who arrived so quickly.

When I arrived at the QEUH Maternity Assessment I was being taken care of by a Midwife - Alison - who I just can’t praise enough! So professional and caring, it truly felt like having my own Nurse taking care of me at the time, she was so attentive and as I say professional, from the smallest of things to opening my lip balm when she noticed me struggling, and ensuring my water was always topped up without me even having to ask, just the overall kindness she showed me; what a credit to the NHS.

I was at the hospital alone but to have her there looking out for me I’m just so grateful. As were all of the other amazing midwives who took turns caring for me during my stay in the Hospital. I am so grateful for them all, myself and other patients are all so lucky to have them. All of the healthcare support workers were fantastic as well, and their kindness and compassion definitely didn’t go unnoticed, but so highly appreciated.

My midwife during Labour was Rosalie, and midwife during Delivery was Elsa. Both so amazing, supportive and I felt much more at ease knowing that I had them caring for me. I appreciate all they done for me. An emergency button was pressed during my Delivery and a team of staff came in to administer medicines etc and even during this, I was able to keep calm and fully trust in the professional and knowledgeable team I could see working together.

Overall I am still left so impressed with my experience and the care delivered to me, and eternally grateful to all of the amazing teams who work within QEUH Maternity wards 47 & 48, QEUH Maternity Assessment, the ambulance service, and the 111 service. Thank You all.

Dear Linsey726

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion.

I was sorry to learn you had cause to contact 111 and subsequently required an ambulance to attend the maternity assessment unit. I understand this must have been a very worrying time for yourself and your partner.

It’s great to hear that your call to 111 was answered quickly and that you had such a positive patient journey.

If you wish to share some more information with me, then I could identify the staff who managed your call to NHS 24 and share your Care Opinion story with them. We always like to ensure that staff see positive feedback to reinforce for them how valued their care is when people call our services. You can contact me by email at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Thank you again for sharing your experience, I do hope you are recovering well.

Best wishes

Stephanie
