"I could not have asked for more support"

About: Cairnie Lodge Physiotherapy / Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Physiotherapy Services / Angus Community Physiotherapy Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery

(as the patient),

I suffered a broken ankle and a snapped tendon when I slipped on some ice. The ambulance arrived quite quickly.

I was transported to Ninewells Hospital where my injuries were assessed in a timely manner and I was quickly allocated a bed. I was operated on the following day. I was then tended to in the hospital and again treated with care and admirable professionalism.

After a few days I was transferred to Cairnie Lodge in Arbroath for rehab. The accommodation there was excellent and staff were outstanding. They struck the right balance between care and the discipline required as part of the rehab process.

I was given every encouragement by the staff to follow the programme laid down by the physio, who himself had a very positive attitude which helped me understand and appreciate the work I had to do to regain my fitness.

I could not have asked for more support from the staff and the physio than that which I experienced during my period in rehab which greatly helped me deal with what had been a traumatic experience.

Hi Dionald947,

Thanks for taking the time to give such positive feedback about the care you received from the NHS and our staff. Having had a similar injury some years ago, I know how painful and traumatic that must have been for you.

I'll leave NHS Tayside colleagues to come back in more detail, but from a Scottish Ambulance Service perspective it's really good to hear that the ambulance came quickly and were able to get you into Ninewells for further treatment.

I hope you are recovering well - it sounds like the rehab and physio treatments are working wonders.

All the very best,

Mark
