I recently attended a gastroenterology appointment at Stobhill hospital. At this appointment the consultant discussed my case and advised that they would arrange for me to have a scan of my upper bowel. They also advised they would write to my GP to arrange follow-up bloods due to ongoing issues with my iron levels being low after both blood transfusions and an iron infusion last year.
After waiting 2 months and having not received any appointment for a scan I called the hospital for an update only to find that no referral had been made for any scan. I called the consultant's secretary to advise what I had been told. 6 calls and 2 emails later I am still waiting. Absolutely nothing has been done.
I have since been told that no clinic notes were completed for the day I attended in February. The consultant is not replying to any emails or messages left by their secretary.
I have since involved my own GP surgery who have been amazing, however they have also been unsuccessful in moving this situation forward.
I feel very frustrated that the consultant seems to be completely ignoring the situation. Where is the duty of care? I feel their behaviour is reckless and negligent. I didn't want to have to complain but I feel I have exhausted all other avenues.
"Consultant seems to be completely ignoring the situation"
