"Disabled access & parking"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / OPA

(as a service user),

I don’t think it’s right that disabled parking has been used by the building works & no other temp replacements have been allocated, the parking on the roads around the hospital are ridiculous & dangerous, recently there have been vehicles parked down all the roads surrounding the hospital making driving & walking round the hospital dangerous & as a disabled person being forced to walk in the road is worrisome as a slow walker I am just ignored when trying to walk & many time I have been nearly hit by cars wanting to pass me as the footpath is blocked by parked cars.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about the access and parking at Stepping Hill. I completely appreciate your concerns and have escalated this to our Estates Department who are monitoring the concerns raised. There is currently work taking place to increase parking capacity on site and we hope this will help ease the congestion on site.

Please also see below a further response from Estates to your concern:

“The Trust does have a long-standing issue with car parking capacity and we have recently approved and commenced the implementation of a new car parking strategy which will, hopefully, help improve matters. The strategy covers multiple facets of car parking, ranging from the day-to-day management of our car parks, through to our sustainability and net zero ambitions. However, the primary objective of the strategy is to improve access to our car parking facilities whilst ensuring a fair and equitable provision is made available to all our service users.

We apologies for the inconvenience that the current situation brings and appreciate the frustration.”

Kind regards,
