Golden jubilee for MRI.
Had called before to ask how far from door to dept. Not flagged up as any distance. Arrived, a significant distance , causing additional pain and unsteadiness.
In dept said couldn't stand to get weight ,handrail suggested. Almost fell, did move the water dispenser by over balancing into it.informed no other way for weights to be taken. Is a chair not available?
Was offered a chair to go from anteroom to MRI room. but as this is difficult and I find it easier and safer I asked for assistance. Told they can't hold my whole weight and I will need a chair. From anteroom to MRI room. Told lift my feet, which is difficult and why not using a chair for such a short distance is preferable.
Manoeuvring on the table, no staff asked what was easiest. Did suggest how they felt it would be easier. vs asking .
Clearly were feeling under pressure as earphones removed so swiftly I did not have time to move my head, and they caught in my ear.
Did not check feet on leaving in a chair, foot pulled under albeit momentarily. But the cumulative effect is significantly increasing discomfort.
Ways to improve when someone calls and highlights mobility restrictions then this could be added to local information. However using mobility aid should perhaps indicate that some further risk assessment be followed.
Person in charge of area I was informed as being one of the staff I had spoken to, so did not feel it was at all valuable to speak to them again.
Felt like being on a conveyor belt, that any straying from being able bodied is not provided for.
Dept asked re mobility restrictions beforehand perhaps some info for staff to describe accurately the distance ,
Reminders that asking about restrictions would lead to appropriate care without injury.
Reminders that moving and handling needs are different for each individual .
Being told I needed to tell staff about mobility -observable as I use a stick
A lose lose for the patient- if voice unnecessary discomfort/pain caused, that feel unsafe then difficult
If voice that impact of behaviours have caused - being difficult.
Was told someone looking for lady of the day however =staying in dept as porter arrived to take to front door. And did not want stay one minute longer than necessary.
