My child was born at the Wishaw maternity hospital in Lanarkshire Scotland, and the experience of care my wife received start to finish blew us away.
We had Amy and Emma on alternative shifts, supervising Kerren and Emma two students, and they were absolutely amazing, checking diligently on mum and giving round the clock care and also distraction with brilliant bedside manners.
They were also backed up by other midwives including Amanda, and great doctors such as Paul who offered so much reassurance, calm, and direction. With our son's birth requiring some unforeseen medication intervention it felt like plan A, B, C, and D were all ready at once making it seem like the safest place in the world.
Great care was also given post birth, and there was no rushing mum home. The only isolated incidents of disappointment came from one midwife who was was very short and unhelpful when asked for advice and support on swaddling our baby, as well as around questions asked during the overnight stay. But aside from this, it was wonderful care and a testament of the importance of a unique NHS system we must protect.
Thank you so much for giving us our little boy, we'll be forever grateful.
