"Very professional and caring"

About: North Devon District Hospital / General surgery North Devon District Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I fell and fractured my hip earlier this year, the operation wasn't going to be straightforward as I'd had had a knee replacement the August before which was given a extra long pin so it was decided to plate and screw the fractures.

Afterwards things seem to be going well, even though I felt I was being pushed too early with physio!

The x-rays I had for my appointment with Mr Bruton showed some screws had moved so it was a decided to go non weight bearing for some weeks after further x-rays and me seeing Mr Bruton he was not happy with my hip so after some discussion it was decided to the operation again which I am very pleased to say was successful!

I cannot praise Mr. Bruton and his team enough they are very professional and caring and the same with the staff who couldn't be more kind and caring which absolutely helped with my recovery - naming but a few, Sue, Julie and Mel and many more !

Cannot praise and thank everyone enough . Take care all try not to work too hard (impossible I know) as you are all so dedicated. Thank you xx

Dear polarisyr48,

Thank you for taking the time to post a response following your recent hip surgery on Jubilee ward.

You have been through a difficult time and have remained positive throughout.

I am sorry that you felt that you were 'pushed' by the therapy team, but, we all strive to the best outcome for patients, and it may seem pushy at times, but done with the best intentions.

I am pleased to hear that the operation was a 'success' and I will pass on your very kind comments to the whole team.

May we all wish you a continued recovery and all of the best for the future

Kind Regards

Julie Pragnell
