I suffered a heart attack in Montrose on Thursday around noon. I felt terrible and went to the local medical centre. They provided initial care and summoned an ambulance crew. They did an EKG strip which they forwarded to Ninewells. Due to unforeseen circumstances the ambulance was late arriving but the ambulance service had a lone paramedic handle my care until the ambulance arrived.
It had been determined that I did not need to go to A&E but straight to Coronary Care Unit (CCU). On arrival I was met by an awfully prepared and ready team the began immediate efforts to save me. Within a very few moments they had scanned my heart, examined the arteries and found the problem. They immediately addressed this with cardiac catheter and followed by a stent. I was recovering in a room less than 60 minutes after arrival.
I credit the CCU team and the Cardiac Care ward with saving my life and I will never be able to thank them enough! You do great work and you should be recognised for it. I want to say thank you for doing a thankless job.
