"Outstanding Care"

About: Ayrshire Hospice General practices in Ayrshire & Arran Girvan & Maybole Girvan Community Hospital / General Medicine

(as a relative),

Our mother was admitted to Girvan Community Hospital Davidson Ward recently. Our mother received a palliative care diagnosis only six weeks previously to admission to hospital. During her last few weeks at home she received outstanding care from the Girvan District Nurses. Special thanks to Team Leader Susan, Charge Nurse Gillian and Staff Nurse Laura who provided compassionate, person centred care and she developed a special fondness and bond with each of them. She was provided with excellent support from Colin and Angela from the Hospice team. As a family we would like to thank the doctors from the health centre for the care she received since her poor prognosis.

The staff at Davidson Ward Girvan Community Hospital  (Every Grade of Staff) treated our mother in her last few days of life with the dignity and respect she deserved. Our mother made the choice to go into hospital for pain control and on the first morning after admission she advised us she would like to stay on the ward as the staff had treated her so kindly and she felt so comfortable in their care. This meant so much to us as a family.

Our mother in the last five days of life was given outstanding care by all the staff and our family were provided with great support during this difficult time. As a family we would like to thank everyone who cared for our mother.

Dear kilonr45

Firstly, please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mother. It is an extremely difficult time when we lose a loved one however I am heartened to hear that this difficult time was made somewhat easier by the outstanding care and support your mother and yourselves received in her final days and weeks.

I respond on behalf of Primary Care and I would like to share your thanks with the GP Practice who looked after your mother following her diagnosis. If you would be happy for me to do this, please either reply to this post with the name of the GP Practice or alternatively you can send an email with these details to HSCPAdmin@east-ayrshire.gov.uk marked for the attention of Primary Care, noting if you wish to remain anonymous.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share the health care experience of your late mother. We always strive to provide person centred care in any situation and I am so very glad that your mother experienced this in her final days and weeks.

Please accept my best wishes to you and your family. Thank you once again for taking the time to post this lovely feedback.

Kind regards

Danielle
