I was admitted to the ward following a fall and spent just over a week on the ward.
I have to say from the start the nursing staff were amazing putting me at ease and explained everything that was happening. The head/lead nurse on duty of each shift made sure all the patients were being looked after correctly and had a warmth towards everyone that her staff picked up on and replicated which made my stay more bearable.
The effect the head nurse had on the nursing staff also transferred to the other staff working on the ward, this gave a family feeling that allowed them to stop and chat, putting not only patients at ease but the family and friends that were visiting.
The nurse on surgical 2 ensured that their patients came first and I have to say the nurses on Surgical 2 are a credit to Causeway Hospital, but I think the credit for how the nurses interacted with the patients is down to the lead nurses on each shift
