"Participating in pain and wellbeing group"

About: Inclusion Recovery College Thurrock

(as the patient),

I took part in the first Pain and Wellbeing group.

The course was based on CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) which worked around reassessing your thoughts and learning to look at the positive thoughts and emotions.

And learning how to pace yourself in your activities so you can control your pain better. Instead of doing it all in one go, you split it into more manageable parts. Allowing you to manage the pain instead of overdoing it and needing to give up for the day.

We had two therapists working with us. Guiding us through the process of retraining your thought patterns to be more productive and not always negative on yourself.

The two therapists were very clear in explaining the process and it was enjoyable to work with them, which made it very easy going and enjoyable.

The other participants in the course also shared their experiences with pain, which helped to understand I’m not the only one.

I would like to say a big thanks to Josie and Nicole for their commitment and patience.

I found the course very helpful and enlightening and would recommend to anyone suffering with chronic pain.

Thank you.

Hello Bighal,

First of all, thank you for taking the time to share you feedback of your experience with Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

It is wonderful to hear that you were able to be a part of a new group here at Inclusion Thurrock that utilised a CBT approach. Through this you were able to learn skills of noticing positive thoughts, better management of pain and getting accustomed to living with pain and listening to your body.

Being able to hear that the commitment, patience and hard work of Josie and Nicole helped in guiding you and your group in cognitive restructuring negative thoughts and it sounds like they did a great job. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will be shared with Josie and Nicole, so they know the amazing impact they had on you.

I am so happy to hear of the effect the Pain and wellbeing group has had on you and I hope other people living with chronic pain can also find it as enlightening and helpful as you did.

I do hope that your feedback will encourage others to share their experience with us at Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

All the best,

Taffy
