"Just a few more moments to show care may have helped"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

Endoscopy department north devon healthcare

staff very nice but busy so only paid attention to you when they had to. No-body asked me how I felt except for one of the theatre nurses.

Felt it was like a conveyer belt when it came to the procedure and they got people up (without asking whether a person felt ready to get up) and discharged very quickly - I wasn't really ready to be discharged quite so soon as I could hardly walk in a straight line.

When it came to giving me the results of the procedure the healthcare assistant/nurse just read from the report sheet and gave me a couple of handouts rather than talking to me/explaining anything.

When I was in the theatre I think they were in a rush (they were probably running late as I had been waiting for  a while).

I really don't want to seem critical as they were doing a good job - just a few more moments to show care may have helped - and everyone was nice. I can understand that when they have so many people through the department each day they cannot really get invested in anyone.

Dear Ruey,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story on Care Opinion.

I am so sorry your experience with the Endoscopy unit was not a positive one and if you wish, please contact us in person as we will be able to investigate your visit in more detail.

You can either call the unit on 01271 349180 and ask to speak to the Endoscopy manager Cara Jones or myself.

Alternatively you could email us at either carajones@nhs.net or joannewilliams07@nhs.net.

Thank you
