Was completely dismissed by a consultant whose bedside manner was little to none. Was in and out of the consulting room in less than five minutes, had someone on a clinical placement in the room with no option to say whether or not I wanted that.
My symptoms were completely brushed off as nothing, told that my scans were not convincing. My appointment was interrupted by a phone call and the doctor took that as the end of the appointment. I had questions about my condition and was sat waiting while the person on placement tried to usher me out of the room. I stayed sat in the room and only when I said twice that I had questions did the consultant come back in, to say that they were hypothesising and that I should just follow the treatment plan.
I don’t doubt that this doctor is intelligent and probably very good at their job, but you’d think at least a shred of compassion might be a good thing to have when treating vulnerable people on a daily basis?
Either way I left the appointment in tears, and though I have been given a follow up appointment I don’t feel like I will be listened to if I attend it.
