"A breath of fresh air "

My most recent experience at a face-to-face appointment at Kemsing Surgery was a reminder of how blessed we are to have the NHS. It felt like I had gone back in time to when a visit to your GP was an experience that left you feeling safe and confident in the knowledge that you were being looked after, and that your symptoms and any concerns you had, were going to be addressed. The GP I saw, who is fairly new to the practice, has to be the most empathetic, caring and competent General practitioner I have met in a very long time. By the time you go into the consultation room, it is clear that he has already looked at your medical records, as he is able to answer your questions and recommend any treatments or follow-up, almost immediately. For once I felt like I was being listened to. And what a rare pleasure it is to have a Doctor look at you while you’re talking, as opposed to a computer screen. I didn’t feel rushed at any point during the consult, and felt free to discuss an additional problem, which I hadn’t included in my appointment request. My husband, who is allergic to seeing a Doctor, was very impressed after seeing this GP and for once is following treatment advice, and happy to see him for follow-up appointments. I have shared my experience with all my friends and family and they are all of the same opinion, and cannot recommend him highly enough. I don’t normally leave reviews , but felt it absolutely necessary to do so, in this case. We live in a society where most of us complain when there is bad service, yet so few praise or show appreciation when they have a good experience. And for the healthcare providers, who are working under the constraints that they have no control over, a big thank you sometimes makes all the difference, and doesn’t cost anything either.
