"Scared the wits out of me"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Gynaecology (Ward 13)

(as a service user),

Came to the care of my doctor at Wishaw Hospital in 2020. They have sent me to many many scans with the same results. It's now April 2024 and they've sent me to another clinic. I was going to go abroad to get my hysterectomy and they've scared the wits out of me. I've had a non stop period for more than 6 months, I can't work anymore and I'm a joy to live with. I feel they should be accountable to someone.

The doctor has now sent me to another clinic to get a hysterectomy, my first appointment will be at the end of August. As they don't do operations, this has wasted years of my life - the doctor said that they could treat the fibroids, now the letter says they need a third opinion.

This is a joke. I'm being treated like I'm not taking painkillers every day like I'm not on cancer injections decaptyl every 3 months, like I'm not on hormone pills, like I can't even work every day as I'm bleeding so much sometimes that it goes everywhere. Like I don't put on pads 24 hours a day.

Thank you for taking the time to contact and share your experience and detail the issues that you have been experiencing.

This is clearly a very difficult situation and in order to fully review and provide the information, I would ask you to get in touch.

I wonder if you would contact patient affairs to provide more details so that we can fully explore the concerns that you have raised.

Please can you email PatientAffairs.Wishaw@lanarkshire,scot.nhs.uk

Kind regards,

Karen Donnelly

I'm getting nowhere and find that they're just sticking up for staff.

I've been in so much pain I'm having very dark thoughts.

I've got an appointment in August but god knows what they're going to do after that - more scans, more meetings, more injections, more hormones?

I'm considering going outside of the UK to get a hysterectomy done and concerned about after op infections.
