About: Glasgow Dental Hospital and School / Paediatric Dentistry - Level 5

(as a parent/guardian),

I took my son to have his tooth trauma assessed. We are treated with kindness and the practitioners are all wonderful in their communication style with children. They were very caring and explained things thoroughly but in a way my son could understand. The service is very efficient but clinical priorities are well managed with the service being overseen by the senior lead. My son was listened to and he felt in control and helped reduce his anxieties.

The only point I could make to improve care is that I was asked about a bruise on my face. As a mental health practitioner I do applaud staff for offering support, but would advise a private space would be more appropriate in future. However I really do feel this was above and beyond care and attentiveness for dentistry staff. Thank you.

I have been delighted to read your kind feedback following your sons visit to Glasgow Dental Hospital.

I am very pleased that staff were caring and your son felt in control and listened to during his visit. However, we are equally grateful to you for highlighting where we could have done better. Many of the treatment bays in the Paediatric Dentistry clinic are open plan to support clinical teaching. This can unfortunately on occasion, compromise privacy and confidentiality. Our staff should have considered this and provided an appropriate private space to have a sensitive conversation of this kind with you, I do apologise. I will remind the team, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I do hope that your son is now on the mend following his dental trauma we really appreciate you taking time to tell us of your experience.
